Kenneth Lim, 37, head of health, safety and environment, was supporting the PAP at Yusof Ishak Secondary School.
Mr Lim shared with MS News: “I think our candidates will definitely win Sengkang. They have been walking the ground since the start of 2020 till now — I think especially Dr Lam and Dr Elmie. Bernadette came by very last minute, but she has very strong credentials.
“Theodora as well — she’s also been on the ground with Dr Elmie. So definitely, from the ground sensing, I believe Sengkang will vote for the better team,” Mr Lim added.
Teo Chee Hean not contesting GE2025
DPM Gan Kim Yong’s move to Punggol GRC also quelled rumours of SM Teo Chee Hean’s involvement in the constituency.
Earlier this week, SM Teo announced he will not be standing for re-election in Pasir Ris-Changi GRC.
However, he was ambiguous when asked about his involvement in GE2025.
Even though he is not contesting GE2025,SM Teo was spotted at Yusof Ishak Secondary School, the nomination centre for East Coast, Pasir Ris-Changi, Punggol, and Sengkang GRC.
He was seen engaging supporters and thanking them for their support over the years.
It wasn’t just Singaporean supporters who were supporting the various parties at the nomination centres though. MS News managed to catch up with a Welsh gentleman who was also present at Yusof Ishak Secondary School to catch the action as well.
Jon Williams, 46, a human resource recruiter, told MS News: “As you may have guessed, I’m not a Singaporean, but I have lived in Singapore for quite a while. I’ve lived here for 11 years and I really wanted to just come down and see how it works.”
“It’s good to see the different candidates and the different parties. Everyone’s very passionate about it. There’s a lot of support, especially for the two bigger parties. And yeah, it’s good to see what the different parties are doing,” he added.
When asked about his thoughts after hearing the candidates’ speeches, Mr Williams said: “I guess you can’t tell too much from the different speeches. They’re quite short, and obviously they’re talking in different languages because of the diverse population of Singapore. But I think they get the message across that basically they’re all in it to help the people in Singapore.”
